01 Jan Artificial Intelligence that Fits Into the Palm
The need for high-speed computers for Artificial Intelligence models compels developers to use cloud services of Google, Amazon and Microsoft. However, a small venture supported by Google, Coral has developed a palm-sized hardware that can enable high demanding computing models to run on ordinary computers. This hardware can increase the computing power by being plugged into the computers’ USB ports.
Using cloud services in jobs that need powerful computers was an important pain point among developers, both because data security was compromised and because it required internet connection. Equipping ordinary computers with the capabilities of a powerful super-computer with Edge TPU, the new processor technology it contains, this hardware makes projects about artificial intelligence and mathematical computing much easier and safer to implement.
