A haptic device, developed by researchers in Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), makes it possible to feel objects we can see by virtual reality technology.
It consists of a device that can be attached to the neck along with specially produced bows and ropes. The ropes attach to the user’s palm and fingertips. So how does the device work? Virtual Reality glasses can monitor user’s hand movement by the sensors. According to these movements, bows and ropes linked to the user sends signals. Thereby, when users approach to an object in virtual area, they feel touching to the object.
